SCHOOL SHOCK!

After lengthy negotiations with the City of Sydney to buy the Wattle Street depot site, and an announcement by Adrian Piccoli, Minister for Education, in December 2014 that the state government would build a world-class primary school with childcare and community facilities, the Department of Education has cancelled the agreement. Instead they propose to demolish the current school, and bus the children to a yet-to-be-determined alternative location while they build a high-rise school on the existing site.

The school community of teachers, children, parents and grandparents is shocked by this backflip, and alarmed at the prospect of children spending hours a day travelling to a temporary school, losing time for learning and/or play, seriously disrupting their education.

Concerned residents can write to the Premier and the papers, and ring talk-back radio to express their outrage at this breach of trust.
