The two Distillery towers: The Distillery (yellow) and The Quarry (green and brown), were designed by Denton Corker Marshall. The Quarry overlooks the old Paradise quarry, but it takes its name from an early excavation on the site itself, that was backfilled before CSR bought it. The Distillery rises directly above the ethanol distillery that was constructed here in 1901. The original distillery was such a dominant feature of the industrial landscape, that the whole slope down to evolve and Antias was named Distillery Hill.
The site history is echoed in the recycled sandstone base of The Distillery, while the low-rise buildings on Jones Street incorporate ‘frames’ of recycled hardwood (referring to the ironbark structural framing of most of the CSR buildings).
