THE HAVEN ON THE HARBOUR

The Station is the community hall at 58 Bowman Street, which is available free of charge to all Jacksons Landing residents for non-commercial events.

It has a kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, sink and dishwasher. It has a maximum number of 80 people seated or 114 standing.

Community Association By-laws and Rules apply to its use, and special consideration must be given to managing noise so that it does not adversely affect neighbours.

A $250 deposit is required as a bond when booking a social function to cover potential damage.

To use the community’s crockery, cutlery and glassware, there is a non-refundable hire charge of $100. This allows replacement of items that are broken or taken accidentally. (The Station is always happy to accept gifts of crockery, cutlery and glassware that is in reasonable condition. Just leave it in the kitchen.)

There is also AV equipment. There is a large colour projector for use with computers and DVDs. There are separate audio inputs via Bluetooth or 3.5mm jack (eg for radio, CDs, mobile phones etc.). There are also hand-held and lapel microphones if needed. It is recommended that you try your computers or other equipment with the AV system prior to your event to ensure your event runs smoothly without any AV hassles.

If your laptop does not have the the required connections, eg HDMI or VGA ports, please bring your own adaptors.

Resident Services Management staff (RSM) can provide a run-through on all systems prior to your event.

Make sure you review “Booking The Station” below or consult Resident Services Management (RSM) for details of the by-laws and rules.

Booking times are:

  • 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • 4:30pm – 11:00pm Sunday to Thursday/12:00 midnight Friday and Saturday

Note that finish time for all bookings is always FIVE minutes before the end of the booking i.e. 25 past or 5 to the hour.

The use of smoke machines, or any other device/activity which may set off the smoke alarms, is strictly prohibited for use in The Station.

Table Tennis

There is a table tennis table located in the Station cupboard for residents to use. Rules and procedures for booking and using the table tennis table are below. Residents can book the Station for an hour at a time, and will need to provide their own bats and balls and collect the net from the Gatehouse, and return the table to the cupboard at the end of the session. You must leave the Station clean and tidy, with all rubbish taken away.
