Christmas in Pyrmont has settled into a successful ritual. Santa and Mrs Claus cheer up children who also hear the Christmas Story, play games, make cards and decorations, and inspect (fairly) wild animals. Several thousand people stroll through the stalls, buy presents, snack on delicious food and delight in the music. St John’s Ambulance, the fire brigade and the police protect us from all harm.
We have strengthened our ties with the Men’s Shed, Pyrmont Cares, Barnardos and the Harris Centre. They work hard at our events and benefit from our fundraising. After covering our costs, $65,000 will be distributed to our charities.
The Star and Google see themselves as part of this community. So do an amazing range of performers, from gentle ukuleles to hard rock.
The very popular raffle produced many winners – listed on the JL website. Thanks to all those who bought tickets.
The volunteers who put this show together will be a year older in 2018, but just as eager! Younger volunteers will be very welcome.
